It was a little bit of a shock to be told that the iconic Arc’teryx Alpha SV is now 25 years old (I remember when Arc’teryx was just a super cool harness manufacturer)!
What’s new?
Still super-durable with a highly abrasion-resistant N100D fabric made from 100% recycled content together with improved lamination for longer life, and easier repair. the Alpha SV has gone on a diet too so unlike the rest of us who gain kilos as we age the new Alpha SV has dropped 223g (1998 = 708g
2024 = 485g) so weight wise it is more of a middleweight than the heavyweight of old. So just as strong but two thirds of the weight and still Will Gadd’s favourite jacket.
We’ll hopefully review the Alpha SV later in the year, perhaps as part of Dave’s ‘Icons Revisited’ series.
