Designed for various outdoor activities, this hoody is perfect for any high-output alpine pursuits, hiking and trail running. I’ve been using it constantly all season, and I have been super impressed with it.

The insulation adapts to your body’s activity level, providing optimal temperature regulation during intense exertion or resting. Having tested and used a whole variety of Rab Vapour Rise jackets over the years, I would say this is a lighter weight and more treatable version of the Alpine Light Vapour Rise – fewer features and not as shower or windproof but super breathable and works well as a versatile midlayer.

The Motiv Aero single jersey outer fabric is lightweight and breathable, effectively wicking moisture away from the skin to keep you dry and comfortable. The fabric’s odour control treatment is a bonus, ensuring that you stay fresh even after extended wear.
In terms of fit, the Evolute Hoody strikes a balance between comfort and performance. The regular fit allows for easy layering over base layers while the elasticated cuffs and hem seal out cold air. The under-helmet hood provides additional warmth and protection from the elements, making it suitable for even the harshest conditions. It will fit over a helmet at a push, for example, when the breeze gets up on a belay ledge.
The Evolute Hoody’s versatility extends beyond its technical features. Its sleek design and comfortable fit make it equally at home on the mountain or in the city. There is very little to improve on the Evolute Hoody. As always, I would like to have a large chest pocket for holding my phone or a printed map and some reflective flashings for night running with friends. Other than that it’s been pretty much perfect. Well done Rab – this deserves to stay in the range and I hope it does.
