Clothing manufacturer, Rab, has been working with Nikwax to produce Nikwax Hydrophobic Down™ for its autumn/winter 2014 range. Rab’s Continuum jacket – its lightest ever down-filled jacket – uses Nikwax Hydrophobic Down for high performance, water-repellent warmth.
Nikwax will be used to treat all the down used in Rab clothing and sleeping bags worldwide, to make it hydrophobic. This will greatly improve the performance of down in damp conditions as the down will absorb less water – 13 times less – and dry more quickly than untreated down. The treatment won’t add weight or reduce the loft.
Rab’s Continuum full zip jacket is super lightweight, tipping the scales at a total of 305g for a size large (385g for hoodie version), 110g of that consisting of the 850 fill power Nikwax Hydrophobic Down responsibly sourced from European geese. The jacket’s mini stitch through baffle construction and very light Pertex Quantum GL fabrics allow optimum lofting ensuring maximum warmth to weight ratio.
