What can we say – you’d better saving for Christmas! The most iconic hardcore climbing jacket gets a revamp for the AW16 season.
Lighter, stronger and looking as good as ever – it has hardcore climber written all over it! Here’s what Arc’teryx have to say:
First appearing in 1998 the Alpha SV Jacket has always been at the forefront of its category addressing the needs of alpinists and expedition climbers with the lightest weight, most durable weather protection – the ultimate hardshell for those seeking the highest in performance products.
With continued incremental improvements over the years it still holds the pinnacle position of Arc’teryx Design DNA and for Fall 2016, the Alpha SV Jacket gets a complete redesign and textile upgrade making it lighter and stronger than ever before.
Utilizing a new N100p-X face fabric that achieved the best results of any face fabric ever tested from W.L. Gore and Associates and provides nearly twice the abrasion resistance of the N80p-X face fabric used previously.
Twice as durable and only 3 grams heavier per square metre. The overall weight of the garment has been optimized with updated design, materials and construction, reducing weight wherever
possible without sacrifi cing durability or function.
By minimizing the seams and using 8mm seam tape on the new Alpha SV Jacket, the combined result is an impossibly durable garment that not only weighs less, but offers maximum breathability. The application of the new self-sealing RS™ Zipper Sliders further reduces weight by eliminating the need for zipper garages while also streamlining the overall aesthetic of the jacket.
Weight M’s med – 475g/16.8oz
Weight W’s med – 435g/15.3oz
As with all of the company’s pinnacle alpine products, the new Alpha SV jacket will be manufactured in the new, state-of-the-art Arc’teryx factory in Canada.
