Stob Coire Nan Lochan, Saturday 13th January

IMG_6327Mixed climbing conditions were good in Glencoe this weekend. With a freezing level around 900m it was best to head to the higher crags. We climbed on Stob Coire Nan Lochan Saturday, finding the crag well rimed, turf frozen and snow consolidated. We climbed Tilt VI 7 with teams on Twisting Gully, Chimney Route and Raeburn’s Original amongst others. Broad Gully was well consolidated on descent although this will have undoubtedly changed with all the fresh snow and wind that started Sunday afternoon.

Church Door Buttress, Sunday 14th February

IMG_0993On Sunday we headed up to Church Door Buttress,  again freezing level around 900m. The crag was looking fabulous. We climbed Poco Loco Direct VII 7 (excellent, steep and generally well protected, although some hard won gear due to chocked up cracks) whilst another team climbed Crypt Route. The weather changed around 3 pm with lots of snow and wind and therefore some considerable accumulations on lee slopes by the end of the day. We got quite wet on the walk out with rain below 800m.
