Patagonia continue the Worn Wear Repair initiative in 2024.

We’ve mentioned this in previous Patagonia reviews but we’ve decided to compile it into a Gear News piece to summarise all that Patagonia is doing this year in 2024. As Leonard Basse from Patagonia reminds us:

“The vast majority of a product’s environmental impact is in the production and its supply chain. Repairing and reusing our gear is the most impactful action we can take to reduce the footprint of our clothing. Keeping a piece of clothing in play for just nine additional months can reduce that product’s associated CO2 emissions by 27%, its water use by 33% and its waste by 22%.”

So, when we can we should be investing in items that will last and that can be repaired. So why not get a repair for free? The very best price for climbers after all. 😎

No kit planning should be without the Worn Wear Field Repair Kit. We recommended it in our Christmas Gift Guide and will recommend it again. It weighs next to nothing and has everything you might need to make a small repair in the field. The Repair Roll is for longer trips or keeping your repair essentials in one handy place.

If you then need a more permanent repair then Patagonia have you covered. There is an online repair portal to book a repair in. This then gets assessed and sent to a United Repair Centre (there are now two as another recently opened in London). If you didn’t know the United Repair Centres provide employment opportunities for folk who have challenges finding employment in the UK, so well worth supporting.

There is also a ton of DIY care and repair guides for those of you who are happier to give a repair a go yourself. You can even request offcuts and spare parts for your DIY adventures.

If you have any sort of repair then it’s well worth checking out the Patagonia Worn Wear Repair initiative should be on your list. Happy fixing!

On top of that the famous Worn Wear Repair tours make stops throughout the year at various mountain festivals and outdoor activity hotspots around the UK. This winter’s tour saw a Patagonia Repair Van parking up in Fort William and on Skye, and there are more stops dropping onto the calendar for the summer season. To find out when the Worn Wear repair crew will be rocking up to a crag near you, keep an eye on this page.

If you have any sort of repair or you’re interested in finding out how to make the most of your most beloved outdoor gear, then it’s well worth checking out Patagonia Worn Wear. Happy fixing!
